CFAN 3, April 2007 "Mid-Term Review and the Way Forward"

The objective of CFAN3 was two-fold

  1. Mid-Term Review: To stock take the progress in Aceh and Nias two years into the official reconstruction period.
  2. Identify a way forward: The focus was on 3 sectors; Housing & Settlements, Infrastructure and Economic Development. These were the 3 sectors containing the immediate critical deliverables of the reconstruction community. These sectors were discussed in detail and sector papers were produced.

Furthermore, CFAN3 looked into the issues of the cross-cutting themes embedded in these 3 sectors, including Gender, Environment, Disaster Risk Reduction, Information Management, Communicating with Beneficiaries and Tightening Systems of Integrity. Practical recommendations were made relating to how operations in these cross-cutting areas can be further enhanced and how they can fully integrated into the reconstruction process.

The CFAN3 Summit was held at the Hotel Borobodur in Jakarta on April 24th. It was attended by Ministers from Central Government, members of local government from Aceh and North Sumatra, Ambassadors and representatives of foreign governments, the Heads of the World Bank, ADB, Multi-Donor Fund, the United Nations and International NGOs, Red Cross Red Crescent Movement and local NGOs. The total number of participants was around 300 peoples.
